Katrin S. Weidhofer

Katrin S. Weidhofer works with photography, painting, embroidery, and collage. Her works are created in an ongoing process of superimposition, in which textile and pictorial layers intertwine. By combining watercolor, thread, paint, and photographic fragments, she develops a language of condensation in which the image becomes a topographical trace of memory. Material and motif form a common structure; the textile element gives the surface body, while the photography creates temporal depth. Weidhofer explores how experiences are inscribed on surfaces, how gesture and line become carriers of perception, and how a new visual order emerges from the fragment. Her works move between abstraction and figuration, between organic rhythm and constructed form.

Katrin S. Weidhofer studied theater, film, and media studies at the University of Vienna and painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Henning Bohl, where she was awarded the City of Vienna Recognition Prize in 2021. She has worked as a research assistant and tutor at the University of Applied Arts. Her works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Notgalerie Vienna, Belvedere 21, in the exhibition „Im Fokus“ (Landesgalerie Burgenland, 2025), in „Potpourri“ (Documentation Center for Modern Art Lower Austria, 2025), and in „Kein halbes Dutzend“ (Galerie Bachlechner, 2025). Weidhofer lives and works in Vienna.
